Al Gillen, VP Research at IDC

One of the highlight of the conference will be the presentation of the studies conducted by IDC, showcased by Vice President Research Al Gillen. He will provide an overview of the main motivations for the adoption of Open Source solutions beside the “classic” cost factor: openess in the product usage and adoption as well as independence from the supplier play an increasingly important role.

To Al´s background

Al is responsible for IDC’s Open Source software analysis as well and cloud and virtualization system software research, across both client and server on a worldwide basis. He brings over 30 years of computer industry experience, focusing also on recent Open Source trends in the area of IT System Management. His research at IDC has included many studies on the Open Source software market, evaluating the readiness and competitive positioning of these kind of solutions compared to traditional closed-source products. His work has also included total cost of ownership and ROI studies on Open Source software. Prior to joining IDC in 1999, Al spent 9 years running a trade publication, and before that spent 10 years as a software developer. He holds a B.S. degree in Computer Science from New Jersey Institute of Technology. To meet him at our Conference, just join us.

The CeBIT 2013 – A big thank you to all our visitors

Posted by on Mar 14, 2013 in NetEye, Network Traffic Monitoring, Real User Experience Monitoring | 0 comments

End User Experience in the Cloud area is getting more and more important. This was one of the main messages we got from our visitors at this year´s CeBIT. The integration of the ntop offer in NetEye – providing this important feature  – has in fact been of huge interest and gives us a further confirmation to set on the right market strategy in our NetEye roadmap.

Notable attention was given also to the integration of the Asset Management approach of NeDi in NetEye. Here a special thank you goes to Michael Schwartzkopff, who in a brilliant way supported us in our stand presence (“it was real fun”) ;-).

An additional thank you goes obviously to all the guests that have visited our stand. We hope that during your CeBIT attendance you were able to get all the information that you were looking for – and maybe also found some through our offer.

“I have never won anything in my life”

Last but not least, and again, congratulations to our iPad mini winners Jürgen Knocke from Lufthansa Flight Training, Claus Witte from Gartenbau AG and Jörg Wiedemann of EDC. The reaction was unanimous: “I have never won anything in my life” – It was our pleasure that we have could have changed this … and who knows, maybe we might soon welcome you in our circle of passionate NetEye customers ;-).

So all in all it was it was a great experience to be at the CeBIT. See here some impressions – and hope to see you next year.

Ready, steady, go! Good preparation is key

Partner country Poland: 12% of growth, 20 bio Euro in IT-turnover for 2012, 150 exhibitors – and still we missed the real highlights

„Shareconomy“: the main topic of this year´s CeBIT

Getting drowned by data: Beside BYOD a main issue – not only for IBM

Despite a clear sky in Hannover at the fair-trades-begin: The Cloud also in 2013 was an intense discussed and presented topic

NeDi and NetEye – presented by Michael Schwartzkopff

The NetEye-CeBIT-team

.…Demos are requested

….good traffic at our stand

…. with particularly well informed vistors…

One of the highlights: The female robot AILA – directly from the space platform ISS

Winner of our iPAd-mini-contest. Mr. Knocke from Lufthansa Flight Technologies

.. and Jörg Wiedemann from EDC

… after the game is before the game … we will be back….
