NetEye 4.50 Release Notes

Welcome to version 4.50 of our NetEye Unified Monitoring Platform.

As you log in, you’ll be greeted by the wide-open autumn meadows of Alpe di Siusi, the largest high-altitude plateau in Europe, with the jagged peaks of the Gruppo delle Odle and the distinctive ridge of Seceda rising in the distance. Their pale rock faces stand out against the golden-brown slopes, while paths and mountain huts spread across the landscape below. Framed by the surrounding Dolomites, this peaceful view captures the beauty of the Alps at a glance.

Icinga 2 update to version 2.16

With the upgrade of Icinga 2 from version 2.15 to version 2.16, NetEye delivers new monitoring capabilities alongside important performance improvements and security fixes.

This update brings a range of new features, like the new OTLPMetricsWriter for sending performance data via the OpenTelemetry protocol, streaming support for the HTTP API using chunked encoding to reduce memory usage on large clusters, and a new filter-expression permission for finer-grained API access control.

Please note that with this release, the ElasticsearchWriter has been deprecated and is scheduled for removal in Icinga 2 version 2.18. Users are encouraged to migrate to the new OTLPMetricsWriter where possible.

To learn more, check out the feature highlights for version 2.16 or explore the official Icinga 2 Changelog. Please also refer to the NetEye Guide for additional details about the upgrade process.

Improved GLPI login through the official OAuth plugin

GLPI now supports user authentication through Keycloak OAuth using the official GLPI OAuth SSO plugin.

Prevoiusly, NetEye shipped a custom authentication plugin for GLPI, but this might not be fully compatible with all GLPI features and plugins. By moving to the official OAuth plugin, GLPI authentication is now better aligned with the GLPI ecosystem.

This means that the login flow remains centralized through Keycloak, but the risk of compatibility issues with GLPI functionality and third-party plugins is reduced.

GLPI agents authentication remains unchanged. Agents continue to use basic authentication through the existing icingaweb2sso plugin, so you do not need to update your existing GLPI agent installations.

Bundled GLPI Plugins

To simplify the adoption of commonly used GLPI capabilities, NetEye 4.50 bundles selected plugins directly with the product. This lets you enable the capabilities you need without first completing a separate plugin installation.

The following plugins are now bundled with NetEye:

  • CloudInventory
    • Discovers and synchronizes resources from multiple cloud providers into GLPI.
  • DataInjection
    • Imports data from CSV files into GLPI using configurable import templates and field mappings.
  • Fields
    • Adds configurable fields to GLPI items such as tickets, computers, and users.
  • OAuthSSO
    • Allows authentication through an external identity provider.

What this means for you

  • NetEye pre-installs the plugins.
  • They are not enabled or configured by default.
  • You can enable and configure each plugin if it is relevant to your GLPI setup.

For more information, please refer to the NetEye Guide.

El Proxy Backup and Restore

This enhancement strengthens the overall infrastructure, ensuring greater resilience, reliability, and service continuity even in the event of incidents or unexpected disruptions.

Alvyix

Alyvix Python 3.14 Upgrade and REST API Enhancements

We upgraded Alyvix Core to version 3.8, and Alyvix Service to version 2.9. In addition to keeping their interactions synchronized, we also updated both to use the new Python 3.14.x to ensure future upgrades will continue to be compatible with the latest Python features.

We’ve also provided an easy way to upgrade to that Python version using a simple pip command in a local command line:

C:\> pip install alyvix --extra-index-url https://alyvix.github.io/alyvix-python-packages/simple/

Finally, we’ve removed the old manually written API technical documentation and replaced it with a REST API where you can access them via endpoints on any Node where Alyvix is installed:

  • List the available API versions:  [alyvix_node_ip]/api_versions/apidocs
  • Access the API for a specific version:  [alyvix_node_ip]/v6/apidocs

User Guide

Alyvix Installation Guide

The Alyvix installation procedure is now available in the official NetEye User Guide under the Visual Monitoring with Alyvix section. This update includes changes introduced by Alyvix’s migration to Python 3.14, updated package installation workflows, and Alyvix Service Security Requirements (Unblocking downloaded Alyvix files).
