NetEye 4.49 Release Notes

Welcome to version 4.49 of our NetEye Unified Monitoring Platform.

As you log in, you’ll be greeted by the Stelvio Pass seen from above, where the road climbs the mountain in a series of tight hairpin bends that seem almost impossible from this height. Forty-eight of them, numbered one by one, twist their way up through green meadows and bare rock, tracing a path that took engineers five years to carve out of the Alps in the early nineteenth century. At 2,757 metres, this is the highest paved road in the Eastern Alps, and looking at it from above, it’s easy to understand why.

General

Kubernetes

NetEye 4.49 marks the beginning of a new era for the platform with the introduction of Kubernetes, based on RKE2 and a state-of-the-art cloud-native stack.

This milestone establishes the foundation for a more scalable, resilient, and future-ready NetEye architecture.

Strict Hostname Enforcement

To strengthen authentication security and prevent unauthorized access through unapproved hostnames, we provide an automated migration procedure for enabling Strict Hostname enforcement in Keycloak. This change serves as a preparatory step for the upcoming migration of services to Keycloak OAuth in future NetEye releases.

A Fresh Look for Account Management and Login

NetEye 4.49 takes the integration with Keycloak a step further! From their user preferences, users can now follow a quick link straight to their account management section, freshly redesigned in line with the already adopted Carbon Design System. From there, users can review various aspects of their account, and local Keycloak users will also be able to change their password directly.

This release also introduces a refreshed login theme, bringing the same modern Carbon-inspired look and feel to the initial user experience, for a more cohesive and polished journey from login to account management.

Performance Graphs Improvements

We continued improving Performance Graphs across NetEye to provide a more consistent and readable monitoring experience.

In particular in this release we improved panels for:

  • Load (Linux hosts)
  • Dummy (Windows and Linux hosts)

Additional improvements will be shipped with NEP updates, adding new Performance Graphs for NEP-provided monitoring commands.

Asset Management

Upgrade to GLPI 11

With NetEye 4.49, GLPI is upgraded from version 10.0 to 11.0 to give Asset Management users access to the latest functionality while ensuring continued long-term support.

GLPI 11 introduces important enhancements such as native custom assets, integrated forms, and other improvements that streamline asset management and support more efficient workflows.

As part of this update, GLPI will also run in a dedicated container, providing better isolation and improved security.

Elastic-Stack

Tenant-Aware OpenTelemetry Collector

NetEye 4.49 introduces a new OpenTelemetry Collector designed to receive observability data and write it directly to Elasticsearch.

The collector is fully tenant-aware. It uses the OIDC token provided during login to identify the authenticated tenant and ensure that incoming telemetry data is routed and stored within the correct tenant context. This strengthens data isolation while simplifying the collection of metrics, logs, and traces in multi-tenant environments.

This release also marks an important milestone for the NetEye platform: the OpenTelemetry Collector is the first NetEye application to be deployed on Kubernetes. This lays the foundation for more scalable, resilient, and cloud-native NetEye services in future releases.
