Monitoring of UPS – and now also Energy Stations
An important part of an IT Infrastructure is the UPS and Energy Stations that give the necessary power to your Infrastructure. What you need is Alarms and also longtime data of your UPS and Energy stations. Lately I implemented a new aproach and new plugins for this type of monitoring. While earlier a UPS/ES was monitored over a single plugin now we tried to split the monitoring of these type of devices in 3:
- Alarms
- Battery
- In/Out
- Availability (Ping)
- Availability (HTTP(s))
This has the big PRO that if some Alarms are active on your device you still see new Alarms if the device will loose uplink energy or your battery is having a downdraft. Also the plugins try automatically to guess your device type so that “Generic” Monitoring Services can be created and assigned to different types of Devices. These are the list of device types we have under monitoring until now:

Delta
This gives you a wide range of devices you may check and be sure that they are working correctly. Over the Battery and In/Out Graphs you furthermore can also see if the consumption of your device is changing in time and have your devices controlled all time.

I have over 20 years of experience in the IT branch. After first experiences in the field of software development for public transport companies, I finally decided to join the young and growing team of Würth Phoenix (now Würth IT Italy). Initially, I was responsible for the internal Linux/Unix infrastructure and the management of CVS software. Afterwards, my main challenge was to establish the meanwhile well-known IT System Management Solution WÜRTHPHOENIX NetEye. As a Product Manager I started building NetEye from scratch, analyzing existing open source models, extending and finally joining them into one single powerful solution. After that, my job turned into a passion: Constant developments, customer installations and support became a matter of personal. Today I use my knowledge as a NetEye Senior Consultant as well as NetEye Solution Architect at Würth Phoenix.
