EriZone Servicedesk: Upgrade to RockyLinux9/RHEL9 (CentOS7 EOL in June 2024)!
Dear EriZone customers! Our legacy servicedesk system EriZone currently runs on CentOS7 or Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7. These operating systems will not get any security fixes after June 2024. For anyone planning on keeping EriZone running beyond this date, we highly recommend you contact us for an upgrade to Rocky Linux 9.
As most of you know, CentOS (owned by Red Hat since 2014) was discontinued in its original form in 2020, and beginning with version 8 it will no longer be 100% binary compatible with the respective downstream version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
One of the founders of CentOS immediately announced Rocky Linux as a successor to the original CentOS project, with the aim of ensuring complete compatibility with RHEL. Nowadays, Rocky Linux (RL) is the most-used enterprise Linux distribution with more than 500,000 installations (https://linuxiac.com/rocky-linux-is-the-most-preferred-enterprise-linux-distribution/).
We will provide a preconfigured RL9 VM and migrate all the data, configurations and customizations. As an alternative, you can provide us a licensed RHEL 9 VM.
EriZone Security Enhancements:
Enhanced SSL configuration: TLS 1.3, corrected cipher suites, complete security headers (you should now be able to obtain an A-Rating at https://securityheaders.com)
Disabled PGP options in EriZone (possibility of remote command execution), and disabled detailed server error reporting (disclosure of stack traces with version information)
EriZone now runs on the most recent RHEL9-compatible versions of MariaDB (10.5), Perl and the Apache httpd web server.
CKEditor updated to the version also used in the OTRS successor Znuny 6 LTS, closing several security flaws and CVE. This update involves a pleasant, modernized interface of the text editor and several improvements in copy-paste and drag&drop of Word and HTML text and images.
Please note that EriZone will no longer get any functional updates.
Please contact us in time to plan the upgrade to Rocky Linux 9, or for analyzing a migration to an alternative service desk system such as Atlassian JSM or GLPI!
